i am currently jobless and considering a census job.
i do plan on resigning if i get a "real" job..

I think they pay around $10.50/hr and that is only a temporary job. You get more if you travel ( mileage ).
Not all to bad, though. Make sure you pass the test. You can try it on their web site.

In Houston they pay 17.50.

That's good money. I did it 10 years ago in upstate NY, for $10/hour I think. Walked around my neighborhood, knocked on doors, asked people questions. It was a little weird because I was going into stranger's houses. But it was interesting at the same time.

Might be hard in Houston, depending on what neighborhood you were assigned to. Could be dicey. But I'd say give it a try.

A family member of ours is going to do it. $15.50 an hour plus .50 cents a mile. Not bad for a part time job.

They called me today! I'll be making $12.25/hr + 0.50/mile. YAY!!!!!!

I looked on the site, and in Houston they start at $17.50/hr. Thats not bad cash for walking around and asking a few questions. I'm going to take the test tonight.
