Next month my husband and I are visiting Houston to look for a place to live. He will be doing a fellowship at Texas Children's Hospital and is required to lived within 25-30 minutes of work (including traffic). We are currently expecting our first baby, so would like enough room for us, the baby, and some sort of space for the frequent guests we hope to have (we are moving from the east coast with no family in TX). This might mean a 2 bdrm+ an office or den, or a 3 bdrm.

We hope to spend between 1200-1400 per month, and would prefer a duplex or single family house in a residential neighborhood rather than one of the med center apartment complexes. Any advice about neighborhoods and how best to find available units would be appreciated.

Thanks!

It may be hard for you to find something in this area in that price range. The medical center area tends to be more expensive. Consider some other areas nearby. When you get here you might want to look up a realtor or apartment locating service to help you out.

It would be hard to find a single family house for that price nearby but apartments and townhomes would be plentiful. I would use www.har.com and theirm advanced search to match your criteria.
