After reading the U.S. Census Bureau estimates for 2008, it looks like it may be a possibility.

Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown, TX Metro Area - ACS Demographic and Housing Estimates: 2008

Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, TX Metro Area - ACS Demographic and Housing Estimates: 2008

What do you think?

I think that's fine. Good for them. Will this make my taxes go down?

Maybe they have. How can we be sure? The question I would ask is if they actually live near each other. And what is the statistic of interracial dating or interracial marriage? Not sure if that one can be studied. But, when I think melting pot those are what I think of. And not many cities in America are true melting pots. I could care less if DFW passed Houston up. I just hope Houston is a melting pot city, and can it stay that way. If you haven't noticed from my posts on C-D, I could care less about keeping up with other cities, haha.

Houston would still be more integrated and more open, for lack of a better word, even if DFW surpassed Houston in terms of diversity. We'd still have some things that would appear to seem that Houston is more international, like having more consulate offices, etc.

In my opinion, there is no melting pot in Texas, and the only actual melting pots in the nation are 1-3 cities, depending on how loose your definition of a melting pot. But when a melting pot becomes Houston or DFW, thats when you know your definition is WAY too loose.

This is about as melting pot as some people want Houston to be, haha.

Meaningless stats but always amused by the silly pursuit of "diversity", whatever that means

Houston's energy industry is about as global as any other major industry in world, as ~50% of profits are earned outside US

But those who own and run the energy industry are about as "diverse" as those who own/run the global tech or finance industries based in "diverse" CA or NYC

And most desirable residential areas (or restaurants) of Manhattan or SiliconValley are as white (w/a smattering of browns) as their counterparts in RiverOaks or HighlandPark

It is what it is out there at tops of competitive global industries, no matter what stats may be made up by commie media and gub-ment community organizers
