My Table magazine's most recent issue had great coverage on some taco trucks that I will add to my list.

Can you please post the locations of taco trucks that you recommend? I'm new to town and don't always know where these locations are.

The green bus tucked into a shopping center on the north side of Bellfort between the Gulf Freeway and Glencrest St. (Next major intersection would be Broadway).

The roach coach. If you only knew how dirty they are. There are limited to no health checks on those trucks because most of them are unregistered and unlicensed businesses. While not affecting the quality of food, I do wonder why the law looks the other way on the roach coaches who park illegally without a permit of any kind.

I would never ever put something into my mouth that I could not pronounce the name of. I would also not consider buying food from a place without a Dept of Health certificate posted for the consumer to look at.

Oh, good for you!
BTW: Houston Health Department requires that every taco truck must visit a commissary to dump waste, refill the tanks with potable water and sanitize the kitchen every 24 hours. Each truck has to carry receipts for these daily services and display a current Health Department inspection sticker. There are 12 of these taco truck commissaries around the city.

Maybe not all of them, but those already established and in business for years probably do. Others have to move around and hide

When you go to taco truck - you can at least see how clean or dirty the food preparation area is and judge it accordingly.
I am more worried how those areas look in "nice" and more expensive establishments where you cannot see the kitchen, the fridge or check if the cook washed his hands after leaving the restroom.
I read this site frequently, and know that some restaurants have serious issues...

BTW: Should I assume that you never eat in some ethnic restaurants where the dishes have ethnic names, or travel anywhere unless you speak the native language

Say it with me... "taa-koh". It's actually easier than "McDonalds".

We are obviously polar opposites in terms of culinary preference, since I usually go by taste than pronunciation... if it tastes good, I will eat it. To each his own. Brick-and-mortar food joints have their own share of issues with e.coli outbreaks from tainted meat.

But I digress.. back on topic.

The solution is to prepare all of your own food, and grow all of your own veg, so you know *exactly* where it has been.
