Ok, so we toured some apartments at Baytown and Seabrook this weekend. None were exactly what we were looking for, so we are still sort of checking our options...
We found a place in Seabrook that was a possibility, but Seabrook was a little different that I expected. I expected it to be quaint with lots of businesses/restaurants on the water to enjoy the views,etc...but didn't see much of that.
We did see the Kemah boardwalk which looked like a fun place to hang out..
But all we saw was basically right off 146 and Nasa Rd.
Not really sure how to explain it. Can you tell me what you like of don't like about Seabrook? Still trying to find a safe, nice place for my son to get an apt..

Most of the restaurants/bars/shops on the water are near the Kemah boardwalk. Not much along Nasa Pkwy. Quaint really isn't a word I'd use to describe any of the suburbs/exurbs around Houston... at least from my experience. Houston is a huge metro area with massive sprawl... it is what it is. I like Seabrook (and bought my house here) for the schools, due to proximity to my work (and easy highway access for my wifes work) and because we liked the house/neighborhood. We've come to enjoy the small community events Seabrook offers... breakfast with Santa, Easter egg hunt, etc.

When my family moved here we rented an apartment for a year before finding our house. I wasn't a fan of the apartments along Nasa Pkwy in Seabrook, and ended up at Village on the Lake which is off the corner of Nasa Pkwy and Space Center blvd. In fact, we toured a few of the apartments owned and managed by Finger Properties (The Finger Companies) and found them to be very clean and well maintained. Note sure if they'd be in your price range, as they were a little more expensive than other complexes, but we found them to be the nicest. Also remember that most online reviews of apartment complexes are written by people who are pissed off and want to ****** to the world... the people who had good experiences generally don't worry about posting feedback online.

Why don't you go up FM2094. If you want nicer apartments, about a mile from 146 driving on FM2094, on the right you will see South Shore Harbor. There are many hundreds of apartments in there and many water front. There are quite a few communities in there. Take your pick. Nearly all are even guard gated. That don't impress me but it does others.

Enjoy a walk around the South Shore Marina, what a great walk with beautiful views. This is technically League City. Like I said in the first post that Shelby just pointed out, I can only think of a few other places I would rather live. If you love the water then this is the place.

There are only a few apartment houses on the east side of 46 in Kemah and Seabrook. Most are row house type living. Dumps too.

If you go to the next light south of FM2094, go down 518. It is wall to wall apartment housing and all are tip top shape. No dumps at all. And you would still be in the heart of everything.

Seabrook is nice and safe - perhaps not quaint but close to 146 if you need that for commute but in an area that is safe; however as addressed in one of your other posts, UHCL area would also be a good area. I guess a lot depends too on how much per month you want to spend. Hwy 2094 near 146 has some nice apts. as well but more expensive and a little bit farther of a commute.

Remembered last night....there are a set of apts. on Repsdorph Rd..(between Nasa Rd1 and 146) that are decent looking. They would be minutes from 146 to your trip into Baytown. Don't know much more than than, except that I pass them all the time and they look nice enough.
