Hello everyone, my name is Patricia--first post

Wondering if anyone here can help...

My daughter has been attending the same elementary in hisd since 1st grade (she's in 4th). Until recently, her father lived within zone for her school--I live just outside (literally a block outside). She is well established in this school (part of their magnet program, etc) and I would really hate for her to be taken out for just her last year of elementary and thrown into another school. Does anyone know if schools will consider case by case enrollment for situations like this?

Thank you.

I would guess no. Schools are over crowded as it is and they will require proof of residency. Better to start the new year at a new school than to start it dishonestly at the same school and risk being forced in the middle of the school year to go to the school she is zoned to go to.

I have known several families that were allowed to finish up at the school they started, if it was within the same district. Just ask the principal directly and explain the situation. HISD is usually pretty understanding.

Thanks for your input. I'm hoping to get approval from her school so that she won't be going there 'dishonestly.' lol
