Do I think Houston could host a World Cup (as far as infrastructure, etc.)? YES.

Do we have stark competition? YES.

I hope England, written off so casually, get it.

If Houston has no chance, why did it make the cut for the US bid for the World Cup?

I could see Houston and Dallas each getting some matches. I know Jerryworld wants it.

Yes, one of the bids that was not cut (like many other cities), and made it to the final US bid. By the time the World Cup comes, public transportation in Houston will be VASTLY improved. Looking at what is here now isn't smart.

Agreed. By then we'll have at least three new LightRail lines up and running which will be connected to the main one downtown. Hopefully, the University line, connecting UofH w/ the Galleria area (if I'm not mistaken) will be under construction if not fully operational by 2018...def. by 2022.

Houston won't stay the same as it is now in the next 8-12 years...it too will change...for the better...

It could be a way to get public transportation improved. A lot of cities that host events like this, or the Olympics, spend millions on infrastructure that is left as a permanant improvment to the city.

I've already signed up for that a few months back. How freaking awesome would it be if the next WC would be in Houston? Man.

I'm so excited for the World Cup. Where are all the football fanatics gathering for the games?
