I asked because that space doesn't look like it was designed to hold a grandstand that will hold a lot of fans. I know MU wasn't building a soccer stadium to hold 10k fans at a time but it would seem that the university would want a good size seating area so that the field can potentially be used to host the CUSA soccer tournament and other events if they want.

Yeah I have the same worry. If you look at the previous renderings, you can see a decrease in size of the stands from the original rendering. I am sure that if they find it necessary, they can add stands to the other side or add another tier on the existing stands. Also, often the final product looks different from either renderings or our perception. It will be interesting to see what happens. I do agree though, more seating will be needed.
I thought MU wanted to have a good amount of seats because when this project was first proposed, it was stated that the field could host other soccer events, like the U.S. Youth Soccer Region East Regional Championships, that were held in Barboursville back in 2009 and 2010. That tournament returns to the area during for the 2015 and 2016 tournaments.
The last I had heard, the plan was for the stadium to have seating for 1,000. I'm sure there will be options for more seating as needed because it looks like there is a lot of space around the field.

Yeah I read that the capacity was 1000. I wonder how that will change as people start to go? U know, just like how the football stadium was only suppose to hold 30,000 but now we know that we can squeeze about 38,000 in there. Lol
I was told that the when the football stadium was designed and built it was suppose to be 30k capacity when it opened in 1991. However, because of the chair back seats and their installation being different than an aluminum bench, the capacity was only 28k when the stadium was complete. That is why the original seats under the original scoreboard were added a few years later, to bring the seating capacity up to 30k (at the time) because that was the seating capacity listed in the contracts.
Here is an informative article about the new Visual Arts Center. There is some information about how much it cost and their fundraising efforts. What I find most interesting is not only the impact that they expect it to have but the impact that it already has had. One individual says that his decision to move his office downtown was highly influeneced by the prescience of the Visual Arts Center. The Rahall Transportation Institute says it has already decided to move in 50 new offices downtown as well (not sure if that last bit is related to the Visual Arts Center but it's still a nice fact.)
