What would a commute from Taeys Valley, Scott Depot, and Hurricane to Huntington be like?

Shouldn't be anymore than 20-30 minutes depending on where exactly you are coming from and going to. Most of your route would be I-64 which makes travel very easy. The downtown Huntington exit is exit 11 on I-64 and Hurricane is Exit 34 while Teays Valley is 38 so 23-27 miles on the interstate plus whatever you drive in addition to that.

The commute isn't bad, boring but not bad. If you can find something closer to Milton and Ona that would be shorter.

Ona and Milton are nice. They are a more rural than Huntington and would provide areas where you could live "out in the country" or in one of several new subdivisions. Milton is just down from the Putnam/Cabell County lines while Ona is closer to Huntington. Barboursville would be another option and Huntington has a lot of nice areas as well. Listed in order starting with Huntington you then have Barboursville, Ona and Milton with Barboursville neighboring Huntington and Milton being about 15-20 min away. Milton is exit 28 on I-64 and Barboursville is exit 18.

If you let us know what you are looking for in a place to live, we can give you some more tips and pointers that may help you in your search.

Thanks again. Looking for a place with the best schools in the area. Mid 30's family that likes to be out and about. Not at all wanting a "cookie cutter" neighborhood where all the trees were cut down and the houses mass produced. Wanting to stay under 300K.

It sounds like you may like Huntington. This would give you close access to the parks and bike paths, you'd be able to walk many places, likely closer to work as well as restaurants and entertainment options. Southside Elementary and Huntington Middle are good schools and Huntington High seems to do pretty good in the rating as well. You would be able to find a nice house in the Southside area for what you are looking to pay. Let me know what area you are the most interested in and I'll try to get you more info.

One thing to remember about living on the southside of Huntington is that all of the homes are older. I know many people like older homes but many people don't want an older home that may require renovations. If an older home is what you want, then yes the southside of Huntington may just be for you and your family.

That is good feedback. Any thoughts on Proctorville?
