Huntington (Est. 1959)
You know that uplifting movie We Are Marshall? The legendary Frostop is about a mile from the campus of Marshall University. And here at Frostop, legions of West Virginians have experienced the joy of having a carhop bring a slaw dog and some homemade root beer in a frosted glass right to your door. It’s like a more efficient version of picking up food through a drive-thru, but this way you won’t have to do that awkward reach out of your window.
Strangely enough, I thought Frostop was only in WV until I moved down to Louisiana. We have several between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
Yeah it was apprently a franchise some time ago. Something happened, I'm not sure what, and each were left to be independently owned. So you will see a few throughout the country, but they are each different in their own ways from what I understand.
They actually sell bottles of Frostop Root beer in some stores. I've had it before though and, in my opinion, it's no where near as good as the stuff that they make at the drive in here. I'm not a root beer fan but I love getting a frosted mug from there. It's a little more mellow on the root beer flavor and has some vanilla added in as well. Good stuff.

For instance, the ones in this area have Poboys on the menu - shrimp, oyster, catfish, etc.
That is a very cool little restaurant. It's a wonder it has lasted this long.
