West Huntington has had its fair share of issues but I remember hearing talk of a "revival" of the West End. Does anyone have any information on this or any insight? What's the city's plan of action, or even is there a plan?

Thanks

Well they did put in a Sheetz, lol. Sadly that's been a sign of economic development in our region.

On a serious note I haven't heard anything.

That's what I thought. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it the city's biggest area? It's rich in history as well. Really hope it gets better. I grew up there so maybe my sentimental bias is getting in the way, but I remember it being so much more vibrant when I was young.

There are plans but I'm not sure of what they are in their entirety. There are plans to make 14th St West a TIF district along with stepping up code enforcement and police presence as well. Beyond this, I'm not sure.

Do you think that commercial development might help it? Or would developing the housing be better? Obviously both would be good but that costs too much money and one might facilitate the other.

LOL ...
You'll know you have arrived when you get your double barelled Sheetz... one on each side of the street.

It is kind of amazing that in West Virginia we consider Sheetz such an amazing sign of progress, isn't it?

They will likely start with commercial development with 14th St west being the focus of the redevelopment and working to improve existing housing stock. This may then lead to the development of new housing stock which would be of a great benefit to the city as well.

Oh cool idea. That would be good. Do u think a Walmart would be addition? The closest Walmart is in Ohio and it would be nice to keep that money over in (no hard feelings toward Ohio; I actually love that state). Would it just be too close to the one already existing across the river? We have 2 on route 60 relatively close and then the next one is in Wayne and Ohio.

They would likely focus on small business development to make that area unique. They already have the antique stores but need businesses that would appeal to a broade base as well.

Ah okay. What about the areas around St. Clouds too? There's room there. I know that 14th W is more known and visible. Maybe a tech park could be put there that would work better than Kinetic has. Kinetic is doing well but I don't think it has a lot of science tech going on there. Also I know I am probably getting ahead of myself
