Perhaps its as simple as the market isn't there for additional business development at this time. Maybe some tenants want a larger parcel or the lay of the land at KP isn't what they want when it comes to the lot size and shape. Many variables in play here.
Received an email from the developer for Tanyard Station in response to my asking some basic questions about the project being bid out, timelines, when we could expect tenant announcements, etc...response as follows: "No news to report. We are sorting everything out." Very reassuring, of course, since you know, they have done a phenomenal job disseminating information to the public on the status of the project; why would we have any questions?
That is unfortunate, but if the home store at Tanyard ends up being Bed, Bath, & Beyond, which I suspect is what it will ultimately be, it will be a huge draw. Would be very successful without question. Problem is, who even knows what's up with the development as a whole and confidence in the development has dropped significantly since its announcement.
I think there's much more of a market now for it in the area. I think it's especially more likely given Interstate's history of bringing Bed, Bath, & Beyond stores to their developments. And although it probably doesn't mean much, it was listed on that pylon sign rendition.
Bed, Bath and Beyond would help but they are losing their "big name" options quickly. I know it hasn't been mentioned but it would be sweet if we could see an IMAX theater in Huntington. That would draw people from more than 50 miles in all directions as I believe Lexington is the next closest.
they will need at least 2 good draws. have they started getting the site ready or the road upgrade. I'm not sure what will be left for the crossing either. if its supposed to be upscale maybe they could draw a Dillard's or a Nordstrom Rack. Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Aldi are probably going to be in one or the other centers. maybe Stein Mart ,Ross, Tuesday Morning,Meijer,Pestmart,Books A Million, Menards. Burlington Coat would be nice. five below will probably be in Tanyard. A Costco and Ikea are dreaming but would really make them a regional destination. Garden Ridge, container store, Crate and Barrel, William Sonoma, and pottery Barn could be goals of the crossing. Tanyard has probably lost most their stores due to delays and if the people doing the crossing have their act together they have probably stolen a few stores from Tanyard. the people doing Tanyard are doing just as bad at announcing in their Westview development in Morgantown. like Huntington the only thing announced is a Sheetz. they said in Morgantown 80 of development has been sold since August but not one word. hopefully both cities get some new restaurants that are exciting also.
