I keep hearing rumors that some type of large housing development is going to go in at Orchard Hills. Does anyone have any details or know if this is true?

I had not heard anything about this, but would be fantastic news, if true. Would be a great location for an upscale housing development and with that would likely come further economic development and growth. Home values in Barboursville will definitely be on the rise! Hopefully we can hear something on this soon.

Yes. They recently sold the property to a developer.

I’ve heard that nothing has been built there yet because the Barboursville sewage lagoon was near capacity and couldn’t handle a large subdivision. Now that Barboursville is going to connect to Pea Ridge Public Service District and close the lagoon, I wonder if Orchard Hills will finally be developed. It’s such a great location for a nice subdivision.

I hope so too. We live in town and would like a little bit more space in a sub division but our only option is Guyan Estates if we would go that route. It would be wonderful if they develop that proper to for houses in the 250-350 range. That simply doesn’t exist right now.

I would prefer to see the land developed into more affordable housing for the area. Not another public housing project, but a mix of modest homes that are affordable. The VOB would probably have to be convinced of such a plan.
