I think you will find the people welcoming. Yes, there will be people big on country music and religion but they won't attempt to jam it down your throat if that is not your taste. I am sure there are areas where you live that will be as quiet as anywhere you would want.

I am not familiar enough with the details requested in this question. There should be some maps available somewhere with crime rates broken down. Sorry I cannot be more help.

I'm also thinking of moving to the area for retirement with in 6 months, is Bourborsville a separate town or a district of Huntington that used to be a nearby town

Barboursville is a separate town. It is where the Huntington Mall is located. It's a nice little area without any real bad areas and is pretty quiet overall. The only inconvenience there is that most everything that you would need is a car/bus ride away as there isn't much that you can safely walk to. If you are looking for quiet suburbs, it would suit you well. If you are looking to be in more of a city environment with more walkable areas and closer to healthcare, Huntington might suit your needs better. Both are nice areas and have a good synergy together as the assets of one area are just a quick trip away from the other area.

Thank you again- also, is there a 'bad' side of town I should know about? Im in my 50's and am looking for a quiet and not too religious place- is this such a place?
