I believe that is correct. I saw a related story yesterday where the NIT has extended invites to the schools who won their conference's regular season title but lost in the conference tournament. Most of those invited are from the smaller conferences that only get 1 bid to the NCAA tournament.
I looked all over the sports channels last night to catch a glimpse of the Marshall tournament game and could not find it anywhere. They did have a C-USA tournament game on the streaming channel Stadium, but it wasn't the Marshall game. Being a conference tournament, I thought that was quite surprising.

I believe the semifinals were televised nationally today on CBS Sports Network. The championship game tomorrow between Marshall and WKU will be televised on CBS Sports Network. My understanding is that the winner of that game will get an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Congrats to Marshall fans for their team's hard fought win tonight, earning their program's first NCAA invitation in 31 years. It will be interesting to see who they are matched with in the first round. I'd say it will be a good, power conference team. You have plenty of reason to be paying attention tomorrow evening, and don't forget to move your clocks up an hour tonight.
Nice write-up on Marshall's C-USA Championship win. I was glad to see them pull this off.

FRISCO, Texas — Marshall’s Thundering Herd rode the long-range shooting of Jon Elmore to win the Conference USA men’s basketball championship Saturday night, defeating Western Kentucky 67-66 to earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
Marshall (24-10) returns to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1987, when the Herd edged Davidson 66-64 to win the Southern Conference title in Asheville, North Carolina. As was that contest, Saturday’s game with the Hilltoppers was a thriller during which Western Kentucky trimmed a 67-55 deficit with 3:31 to play to 67-66 with 1 minute remaining. WKU attempted a shot inside the 10-second mark but missed, and Marshall rebounded with 8 seconds left, prompting a sigh of relief, followed by a celebration from Herd fans at The Ford Center at The Star.
