Yes, it is average, and it says it right on your source. So you have a field with only a few thousand jobs total, VERY LOW, and average job growth. I know you think 19% is a BIG number but it isnt that is standard.
Also, the degree is unnecessary. There is a reason good science schools dont teach forensics. Science fields, premed, etc, of a good program will teach you 90% of what you need to know. That last 10% can be learned by either taking a few classes, not a whole masters, or having job training. Heck, nursing and lab tech jobs probably teach you a good portion of what you need to know for forensics. It isnt a field that needs a specialty degree.
But sure if you want to get a niche degree that is only useful in one small area that has very few jobs and average job growth, along with only average salary go for it.
Bailey, I agree with you. 20% job growth is good for any profession right now as the economy still recovers.
Also the MU program has a concentration in Digital Forensics and obviously with the advances in technology every day, that concentration will be valuable to not only the criminal justice community but for other industries like insurance companies.

It is average. Is average good? Maybe to you but for all professions that is normal. The government even says 19% is average. By definition average is not good.
Digital forensics is just a few classes for computer scientist, software engineers, and IS. A whole degree is not needed, is a waste, and limits one to a small field with few jobs.
Well thats one thing they did right. The new marcos wasn't at all attractive when I saw them in the Herald Dispatch a few months back. Glad to see the old Marco back!
I do think bringing back the original Marco will prove to be a good marketing move. Folks around here seem to enjoy collecting items that depict the friendlier looking version of the mascot.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University Forensic Science Graduate Program once again ranked number one in the country for its students receiving the highest overall test scores on the Forensic Science Assessment Test, a qualifying test offered each year by the American Board of Criminalistics. This is the fifth time the program achieved the number one ranking in eight years since its students began taking the test in 2007. - See more at: University Communications
CTMountaineer is always crying about Marshall duplicating fields that wvu already offers. Anyone else find it amusing that he never complains about wvu pathetically trying to start a forensic science department when Marshall offers the best department in the country?
