I'm moving to Huntington next week. I'm an MU student but I think the fitness center is closed over winter break. Anyone know a place I could work out for a month in the Huntington area besides the YMCA? I have nothing against the Y, but I don't believe you can purchase just a month's membership there.

If you find one, you should point it out to everyone else in the city.

There's Absolute Fitness in Barboursville which does offer monthly memberships for about $60. You're right about the YMCA, they don't offer monthly memberships and the only way to get in without a membership is to pay $10 by going as a guest of a member. They do offer a free two day pass though if that would help in the short term. Here's the Absolute Fitness website with contact info. Hope this helps and welcome back!

Why are the few gym's in Huntington so expensive? I am also moving there and am trying to find a gym I can afford. No luck so far...
How about any in the area that surrounds Huntington?

Have you tried the American Health Center just outside of Huntington? They are open 24 hours and I think their rates are pretty reasonable. Give them a call.
