Tight Huntsville budget may spell end of the line for controversial road project | al.com

Shady...shady...shady... So if I don't pay my property taxes will the city be nice enough to pay them for me?

This whole thing has stunk from the beginning. There is no need to straighten out Seminole Drive. There simply isn't enough traffic to warrant the money to fix that curve. The city has a vision to make the Lowe Mill area the next "Five Points" and that would never happen with the homeless shelter there. Also, they wanted to get the homeless out of downtown and specifically Big Spring Park. I used to see homeless people regularly in BSP, I haven't seen any in some time. I now see homeless roaming up an down University near campus all the time. The problem has been successfully shifted.

I understand the desire to clean up downtown and the Lowe Mill area but it was done at the expense of NW Huntsville. City leaders essentially decided that NW Huntsville was a lost cause but Lowe Mill has potential, let's move it out there. These decisions are tough ones and someone is always a loser but the way they did it, with all these backroom deals, deceptions and outright lies makes me sick.

You are probably correct in your assumptions. I, too, have not seen any homeless downtown. I cannot speak for the Lowe Mill area but I would guess the homeless population has shifted.
