My company is moving me to Madison, AL and I have never even been to AL, much less Madison. I need advice on where to look for a house. I will only be there for a year, so I am looking to rent a home, but want a nice area that is close to work. I do not have children, so schools are not important.

What are the best resources for finding rental homes. Here, the paper is a better source than agents, but driving around is good too... so where should I begin? Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Do you have to have a house or would an apartment work? If you are looking for a house for a yard for dog, I had problems finding a rent house that landlord would let me have a pet, whereas apartments didn't have a problem.

You may have a better chance finding a rental home in Huntsville, partly because there is more to choose from. If that is an option, check out NE Huntsville. Look in the area North of Pratt Avenue, East of Andrew Jackson and South of I-565. The neighborhoods are safe and you might have better luck finding a rental. From there, you can hop on I-565 and be in Madison in less than 15 minutes.

Find a good Realtor - some handle rentals, too. It's what we do for a living and we're happy to help.
