I've noticed some of the same anchors on FOX 54 and WAAY. Are they trying to save money or something?

54 used to be a decent station that didn't subject us to local news, but then 2 or 3 years ago they decided they'd be first and crappiest or whatever their slogan is. At any rate they've always had some of the same fokls on air as another station. Couldn't say which as I watch American Dad! at 9 and 9:30 and Family Guy at 10 and 10:30.

At least now WZDX is using some local people. Their news used to come out of a studio in Iowa that specializes in "local news" for stations that couldn't afford their own local news teams. WZDX had one or two local reporters for field reports, primarily shooting local footage, but the anchors, weather and sports were done from the studio in Iowa.

WAAY is locally owned while WHNT and WAFF are part of media conglomerates. That is why they are behind times.

The local FOX station contracted with WAAY for the news ending their Iowa affiliations.

We never watch WAAY because the picture quality looks horrendous on our big HDTV sets. WAAY TV need to upgrade to HD and a set makeover wouldn't hurt. Their set looks like something from the 90's...
