We are currently looking at a few areas in Limestone County that are within the Madison City limits. I'm getting a bit confused on what is actually offered there in terms of services. Onsite realtors tell 3 different stories at different locations.

IIRC the City of Madison sales taxes are the same and so are the State sales taxes, but the County sales tax rates may be different. IIRC same structure for property tax millage.

We live in Madison and just to let you know we get charged a $13.50 added onto our electric for having a garbage can via Huntsville Utilities.

Thanks, Reactionary. That post pretty much sums it up. I called the Madison Public Works for a couple of additional questions. Basically, household trash is handled by the county (Limestone in this case), but debris, grass clippings/trees branches and bulk items (furniture/appliances) is serviced by the City of Madison (Allied Waste). The lady at the PW mentioned that many residents in annexed areas of Limestone County don't ask and find out certain services/amenities are not available to them. Her suggestion was to always ask them and not onsite realtors, developers, etc.
