My current bank is only located in Alaska, so I'm looking to close my account and open with one that is national. We do have a lot of the big ones up here.

Credit Unions - Redstone Federal, Alabama Teachers , Family Security, I'm sure there are others.

National Banks - Regions, First Service, Commercial, Ibernia, many others.

I personally recommend Redstone Federal Credit Union.

Also Wells Fargo.

RFCU is great and has many branches in the region (even Murfreesboro TN much to my surprise).

Wells Fargo is probably "the" biggest national bank here.

I am hoping Navy Federal Credit Union will come to Huntsville in the not too distant future.

How about Bank of America? I keep hearing bad things about WF and BoA as they have lots of stupid fees. I might just have to open an account with WF just so I can get down there, then change RFCU. Thanks for the input folks :-)

Do you like your bank in Alaska? If so you can keep them IF they are a "CUSC Shared Branch" and you can do your banking at about 5 or 6 local credit unions here. I go to Alabama CU and North Alabama Educators CU.

My bank is back in Northern VA but I didnt want to lose the awesome interest they give to checking accounts (yes, checking) of 3.25%. I think it used to be 3.95% a few years ago though. Either way I dont think ive ever seen a rate that high anywhere else.

----Anyways, if you want a national bank, then Wells Fargo is better than BoA IMO.....BoA is a PITA!
