I was pleased when I finally saw a picture of the lady that it wasn't the Anne Brown, who was also a dancer, who I went to school with.

Interesting. I decided against that studio in part because the parking situation looked like a nightmare. (Just don't want to pay good money just to buy myself an annoying parking situation twice a week.)

Why have people decided to cause trouble about this now when the studio has been open since the 60s?

I think because the area around the studio has obviously been built up tremendously since it first opened. Many more businesses competing for parking space.

The studio has been there since the 60s, but it expanded significantly about five years ago. A two or three story building was added, and a lot of the original parking lot was consumed by the new structure. They had to get special permission from the city, since they don't have as many parking spots as required by code.

I have friends that live in this neighborhood, they say this situation has become a nightmare. Their driveways are often blocked by parents of students and students who drive. One person needed to get out for an emergency and could not find the teenage driver of the car blocking her drive becausee she left with another student to go to another location. The city giving the owner special consideration has made her feel like she is above the law.

Personally, after hearing the language that came out of her mouth on the night of the altercation with the tow trucks, I would have immediately pulled my child out of her studio. She exhibited the type of character I would want to keep my child far away from. What a poor influence for her students.

I agree. It is arrogant and rude to expect the surrounding neighborhood to be the parking lot for your business. The good ol' boy politics is rampant in this story. The city apparently approved plans for the expansion that was signficantly smaller than what was actually built. Simple oversight? Doubtful IMO, she would have had to provide more parking but didn't have the space. I've done some expansion projects on my personal house. What would the city have done if I put in plans for a 500sqft expansion and actually built a 1000sqft expansion? They would have stopped my project. So in this case, the inspectors were either incompetent or looked the other way. Then after all this, she is granted a special exemption by the city for the lack of sufficient parking. She needs to pony up cash and buy one of the adjacent houses and turn it into a parking lot or pay neighboring businesses to use their parking lots.

From reading the police reports and reports from those who were there, I have to wonder why anyone would want their children around this woman. Especially seeing how she put her students right in the middle of her conflict by getting them to jump into cars that were being towed. She has shown extremely POOR judgment and charachter IMO.
