This may be a little late, but I notice yesterday that Walmart on the Parkway had a sign out stating that they were taking applications. You can apply right at the store at one of the kiosks.

Is that the Walmart that used to be Kmart years ago? I've applied at Walmart online twice already. I guess I could try again. I've applied several places where they talk to me like I've got the job, but then they don't call back.

I am not sure if it was a Kmart. I just moved here a few months ago. It is the one near the intersection of the Parkway and Hobbs Rd.

It may not hurt to apply in person. At least you would be applying directly at the store where you would work. Less chance of your application getting lost somewhere on the internet. Good luck!

That would be too far away for me. Supposedly I've got a job at a motel. They are supposed to call me tomorrow, so we shall see.

So I've got an appointment for an interview at 9 a.m. on July 9th. I think I'll keep looking in the meantime.

Go in for paperwork on Wednesday, and start training on Friday. Now let's just hope I can handle it, and they give me enough hours to make it worth my while. It's 12 miles there and 12 miles back, so. And I see gas prices are on the rise again.

Twelve miles is nothing that has a warm climate during winter. Out here it is not uncommon for people to commute 50, 60 or 70+ miles down to San Diego and that is one way. If it's any consolation, I used to work for a casino that was about twelve miles away which was on a windy and mountainous road.

That's only 24 miles each day. That is about what most cars get per gallon. So it will cost you about $3 a day to work now. Even if gas goes up to $5/gallon. Then it will only cost you $5/day to work.

You might want to look into an electric bike, something like the Ezip trails. They have a newer model that has a Li-ion battery and an aluminum frame. That is the model you want.

They cost around 500 but you could charge it at work, or whenever you arrive at your destination. The electricity at work or a place of business would be free.
