My wife and I have a couch we really love but it needs to be re-covered. We checked a few places and it was going to cost almost as much as a new couch. Any one have any recommendations on a place to try? Thanks.

That is usually the case unfortunately. There is a place in Arab called Patrick's upholstery. I don't have any idea about price though. He has a huge store full of fabric

If there are any trade schools that teach it, they are usually cheaper but it takes longer

Calhoun Community College in Decatur used to have an upholstery class that would do cheap reupholstery (no guarantee on the quality). Don't know if they do anymore, though. Recovering a couch is VERY expensive, no matter where you take it.

Have you looked at Slipcovers? Surefit online has a huge selection and if they don't fit you can return them if you want cloth. There are kind of styles, fabric and color. If you go that route you should get the rods to hold the cover in place.

Thanks for all the help. I'll probably just end up with a new couch. Our old couch was a very nice american leather and has great cushions and frame. I really just hated to see that go to waste.
