New to the site and have a question for everyone...

What are your thoughts on sequestration and how it will impact Madison County? Have any of you been told anything specific at your place of work if this is not averted?

Thanks!

I haven't been told anything at work officially. It is scary. That is one HUGE thing that worries me about the Huntsville economy. We are so dependent on the government. Other than the government, or supporting the government, there isn't much in the way of other industry here.

A friend of mine was told at his work to prepare, and that there will be cuts.

The sequestration actually only cuts future increases in the defense budget, it doesn't cut the current fiscal or future current budget. It will just prevent future expansion. Sure there will be some programs cut but they are the ones that would have been most likely cut anyway as projects are dropped here and people moved around all the time. I know a guy that is an engineer on the arsenal, has been in the same office with the same desk for 15 years and has worked for 6 different companies. It is typical governmental mismanagement mess as usual.

I can tell you this though, I have had enough of all of you Obama supporters "change" and will be glad when the next four years are up so we can get a new "change." This has to be the worst administration since Carter in my opinion.

Let's please not make this a political-ideological discussion.

There is no way to avoid it, the sequestration is being caused by political posturing so I went ahead and put my flame retardant suit on and posted my thoughts.

ingsoc75 - like it or not, it is a political discussion because the sequestration is a political creation of Obama. Get your head out of the sand...

My head is not in the sand. You just don't realize that every politician in Washington is to blame!

Vote them all out and start fresh if that is the case but I disagree. This is blatantly drawing a line in the sand by the Obama administration and it is starting to look like it is going to blow up in his face.

Mo Brooks and Martha Roby voted against sequestration. Can't blame this mess on them...
