Who know is the story is true, just what I heard.
That sounds like something along the lines with what I have heard.

But I agree with somebody else here. The BBQ at either isn't very good. I mean it can be really good. But never great.

I will agree that I prefer the old location...while neither food is amazing, it is passable.

However, IMHO, both pale in comparison to good Eastern, NC 'cue. I sought out this place in rural Eastern NC last week and it was amazing. Chopped whole hog cooked over oak w/ bits of crackling, vinegar and crushed red pepper.

We only get the catfish, so I wouldn't know about the BBQ.
When I want great BBQ I just fire-up my Oklahoma Joe and/or my Big Green Egg.

When I finish the house, a Big Green Egg is on the list for the patio!

@Reggie. The banana pudding is far superior to the bread pudding.

Been to both locations and as mention in this thread before, I didn't care for the BBQ either.

I remember going to the 565 location as a kid growing up everytime we came back from I65 with my parents who both seemed to enjoyed the food.

I know the old location had some of the best Hush Puppies i've ever tasted

No way Huffbuffer! Bread pudding is always the best. I finally found a place in hville that has good bread puddin. City Cafe on Drake but they seem to alternate between rice pudding and bread pudding. The rice pudding is tasty too!

I was born in the southeast and have lived here all my life. I never had white sauce until moving to north al and trying it on the hush puppies at the 565 greenbrier. Now, it is a smoked chicken must have accompaniment. My 12 yo son loves it. Other white sauces such as big bob gibsons don't compare.

I never even knew there was a "feud". I've been to both many times and always just thought it was all in the family. I'll have to give a second thought to going to the old location.

I'd agree about the barbecue, not even average in my book. South is serious about barbecue and it falls way short. (Taylor's and New Market barbecue are my faves in the area.)

You do know who invented the North Alabama distinctive white sauce, right?
