Thank goodness - the concept of locally-owned stores is so dated.

The Walmart under construction at corner of Jordan ln and Oakwood is supposed to be a Neighborhood Market. There is a difference.
Walmart Neighborhood Market - 38,000 square feet (average)
Walmart Express - 15,000 square feet (average)

It is apparent that the new smaller Walmarts are taking aim at the "dollar stores".

Wait, and so Hazel Green is rumored (at least on this forum) to be getting a Walmart "General" store?

On an unrelated, but Walmart related topic. Has anyone ever noticed how the gas station at Walmart on hwy20 in Madison will jack up the price about 10-12 cents one day every week for about a day or so? Anyone have any idea what is the reasoning?

Maybe that is the day most people fill up and they are looking to make extra $$$?

Could be. Seems to happen on random days though. It was just an observation I had on way home from work yesterday.

They're building new medium sized stores too. The one that just opened in my town is about the size of a Wal-Mart back in the 1980's, but with groceries. Supposedly a "test store".

WalMart Markets are more like a grocery store. In FL they put them up near a lot of Publix stores. Honestly, they didn't take my business away from Publix because of the quality of Publix Products. The Express stores are more like 7-11 convenience stores
