I would like to start hunting wild boars and deer. I've never hunted but need to start. I am 52 and have a couple rifles. Due to military training and a some time at the range, I think I'm a pretty good shot. I would rather not try to start on my own.

The special hog hunt in the Black Warrior WMA starts next Monday, Sept. 2.
Wildlife Management Area Maps and Hunting Permits
Go ask this question over on the local gun board, Shootability (
Shootability ). I know of at least one hog hunter over there that may be looking for another hunting partner since his last one is moving to TN (i.e. me).

good idea to first shoot, clean and eat some squirrels, rabbits, maybe turkey. Deer or boar can be a big change from what you are used to, lots of blood and guts and work to deal with after the shot, too.
