As far as restaurants, they're mostly chains here now. The only good non-chain places I know aren't in Huntsville.
I couldn't agree more

Outside Huntsville, they're all over the place. Five A's is one of my favorites as well as whatever used-to-be Mildred's (and used-to-be Marvin's before) up in Park City. And of course, we have good Mexican and BBQ all over the place.

Any of James Boyce's restaurants....
Nicks
Mezza Luna
Grille 29
Stanlios
Big Ed's Pizza
Famous Joe's Pizza (technically Madison)
D&L Bistro
Edith Ann's
Blue Plate
Sam and Gregg's
Bandito Burrito
The Taco Truck (truck and their location on S Memorial)
I Love Korea
Rosie's (yes, technically a chain but locally owned)
Phil Sandovals
Ol' Heidelburg

There is a starter list. None are national chains, there are a couple that have opened a second location in the area but are still locally owned.

Glad I asked. I haven't thought about Thai Garden in years.

True. I'm kind of in a rut right now as far as eating out. Too much Mexican (thought good) and not enough driving to what I really want, if I could remember what I want.

Ding How is ok, I don't know if its worth a 2 hour drive. For me its not worth the drive across town, but that's just my opinion.

That's Ding How II. The original Ding How, on Triana I think (if it's still there,) is not a place people would make the drive for.
