We're taking a little trip from TN down to Huntsville.

We've been there before but just once.

We're going back to Deep Comics and this Champs sports cards

are their any other neat places?

We also want a few places to eat at or try maybe. We like good, small time different places when we travel.

we liked it the first time we went we were a bit rushed last time though.

My FAVORITE restaurant here is Commerce Kitchen downtown across from the courthouse. Its also right by Harrison Brothers which is a super cool place to visit.....

The shrimp and grits are OMG.....

Go to Lowe Mill. Some really cool local artists' work to see, and since it's a cold day, be sure to stop by Pizzelle's for drinking chocolate and some of the most unique truffles you've ever seen or tasted.

Stop at Lynnville, TN (I-65 exit 27 I think) on your way down and give Decatur a try. Much better than any place in Huntsville for your described likes.

Stores
  • The Foundry does more table top gaming than The Deep and is located just a bit further down on the Parkway than the Deep.
  • Gamerz World is more North on the Parkway and has lots of retro video games.
  • Hit Comics is on Bob Wallace very close to The Deep and they have some action figures in addition to the comics and magazines.
  • I think they close early on Friday, but Pearly's Gates Natural Foods is in the same strip with The Deep and that is a fun store to [carefully] sniff around. Lots of herbs, spices, and oils.

Restaurants
  • Stanlieo's Sub Shop (don't be afraid to try their veggie options, especially if you don't typically like how salty lunch meats are)
  • The original Bandito Burrito. You'll find both of these on Governor's, close to the Deep.

Events
  • I don't know of anything of special interest at Lowe Mill but as mentioned you'll catch some nice local artists' showcases and maybe a nice meal at the Happy Tummy.
  • There is a whodunit play at the Von Braun Center Playhouse this weekend which is a really nice venue.
  • EDIT: I forgot to mention that Huntsville Rugby Club is playing a friendly match against Memphis in preparation for their match against Montgomery next week. I believe you'll find them at the rugby pitches at the very Southern end of Triana.

I'm interested in Harrison Brothers now because of this topic. I love living here

What Dax said.

As far as restaurants, they're mostly chains here now. The only good non-chain places I know aren't in Huntsville.

I'd be glad to be wrong. What non-chains are good inside Huntsville?

Outside Huntsville, they're all over the place. Five A's is one of my favorites as well as whatever used-to-be Mildred's (and used-to-be Marvin's before) up in Park City. And of course, we have good Mexican and BBQ all over the place.
