Does such a thing exist in this area? If so, could you please recommend a place (or tell me which places to avoid!). Thanks.

You might try this link. My now 10 yr old granddaughter had her 3rd bday here and they were great with the little ones at the time. I don't know if they do lessons for little ones though. About 3H Stables

There's a stable in Hampton Cove that gives lessons also but I think the youngest they'll go is 8 yrs old.

A few weeks ago my husband and I had a groupon for 3H Stables that was expiring. I was contemplating taking my 5 year old there, but after going there with my husband I would not recommend it for any child younger than about 8. They weren't up to par on safety IMO.

Thank you both. I have read terrible reviews for 3H online.

Does anyone have any experience with Star HB Farms for lessons?

We've gone on trail rides three times at Star HB, but no riding lessons. They have always been nice there and we have had no issues. It's worth a shot to call Helen and ask her, she's really nice.

I know nothing about the, but Mallard Stables in Decatur does lessons. They're very close to Point Mallard. Mallard Stables | a little piece of country in the heart of the city

There are several private horse owners at the Redstone Saddle Activity; a few of them give lessons or know someone who does right there on the Arsenal. As a former riding instructor, I will say that preschool age is a little young to really learn anything of value in the saddle. Learning the groundwork and basics of horse care should be your main priority. If you're looking to do leadline, you may get a little useful in-saddle instruction for your little one, but not much that can be done independently at this point.

I had good experiences with Star HB for trail rides. They are real nice, and I'm sure they could help you out.

I called ahead and they met us there on New Years Day!! We had Ty as our leader. Loved him!! He gave our eleven year old granddaughter a first time lesson and he was great!! We couldn't believe they would come in on New Years but our grand-daughter is from Atlanta so we had to do it before she went back from Christmas break. We thought the gentleman who answered the phone and made the appointment was nice and very accommodating and Ty was super with our granddaughter!
We are actually going back this cold weekend as granddaughter has begged her mom to let her come back to Huntsville this weekend!! Hope they can accommodate us again as granddaughter loves it!!!!
