Looks like GMD is where the bulk of cut is.

We knew about GMD months ago. MDA is a strong component of the defense budget. It is here to stay. Now the trick will be to attract the folks from Colorado Springs and DC who have a CHOICE in coming here, but also have the requisite expertise to mentor the new young engineers they're wanting to hire.

I hope the issues of small town politics and non-disclosure aren't going to keep those potential homebuyers away from the area as this is a great place to raise families and the schools are fabulous.

But when one scratches beneath the surface, the picture is a bit less than perfect and a harder sell. The people willing to move here are smart, intelligent and higher educated. It'll be interesting to see how the dynamics of Madison City, Huntsville and Madison County will change as all the newbies come into the area.

I can already see the cracks in the wall.

Huntsville has been attracting new, young, smart, intelligent and higher educated people, including engineers for more than 50 years now. They were attracting them when the town was smaller, when small town politics was more rough and tumble, when the concept of non-disclosure didn't exist, when there was much less "sunshine" in politics. Most engineers I know seem to be most interested in the job and challenges it presents. They'll keep coming here.

Huntsville will continue to change as the "newbies" come in...just as it has been changing since the arsenal was opened, much earlier than many C-D readers were born. The "powers that be" today are nothing like the powers that were. I'm not saying they're perfect, but they are not even in the same league. Many would argue that many of the powers that be are "newbies"...and have made a significant impact.

Much as ionlife is trying to have...

I've been around this joint for a while and I can tell you that it's happened before, several times. We always wind up assimilating them.
