After a lot of research and looking at homes, we have finally narrowed down our search to Meridianville and Triana. We have found a great home in Savannah and Bermuda Lakes and both homes have the same floor plan. So our choice literally is between the community we want to be in. From the looks of it we like both. Savannah will be 15 minutes from work but a smaller lot, while Bermuda Lakes will be 30 minutes from work but almost double the size of the lot. The price is very similar. Which community would you recommend based on schools, crime, traffic, proximity to amenities, and maybe resale in the next decade?

Savannah is closer to the City of Madison and has City of Madison schools. I personally would prefer Savannah although I do not care for the town of Triana-However Savannah is off of Zierdt Road and Wall-Triana Hwy before actually entering into the town of Triana and isn't terribly far from the amenities on Madison Boulevard such as the Publix, Wal-Mart, several restaurants, etc. I am currently looking at every brand new neighborhood in Madison.

You do not want to move into the town of Triana proper.

But Savannah is not in the town proper of Triana.

Let's focus on the typical issues here ...
1. Schools:
It is on the outskirts --- and you do get Madison City schools.
With Meridanville - you get Madison County schools.

2. Distance from your place of work
3. Distance from your typical family routine
4. Size of house/lot
5. Community

Go there throughout the week --- morning, afternoons and evening.
Go there during the weekends ... get a feel of the residents.

Long time reader first time poster. I've lived in Triana for almost 5 years and love it. We're in Towne Lakes, which is a little further down the road. I'm close to work and my kids go to a great school. So I'd choose Triana.

For schools, I would consider it a wash. The county schools are good and would probably be a closer drive to your house if your kids don't take the bus. I definitely wouldn't live in Triana just to get Madison City schools.

For traffic and amenities, I'd go with Meridianville. The drive from Triana to go absolutely anywhere would get annoying real fast.

Of course I'm biased because we looked all over the county before buying our house and ended up choosing the county over other areas, including Triana and Madison.

Towne Lakes is Breland Homes and Savannah is Adams Homes. I personally like the Breland Homes better than the Adams Homes in Savannah but Towne Lakes literally feels like it's in the town of Triana and Savannah does not. Savannah is on the outskirts and is there before entering the true town of Triana. I think it may be in the town limit of Triana but if it is it's right on the outskirts. Breland Homes has another neighborhood off of County Line Road called Ashbury that is in MADISON CITY LIMITS. It's much nicer and has a community pool. I would definitely choose Ashbury over Savannah and Towne Lakes. There are also some other Breland Homes neighborhoods that are in very convenient locations.

I just wanted to give my experience with living in Triana. It seems like people on here have negative opinions about it, when my experience has been anything but negative. We moved here after grad school and bought in Towne Lakes thinking we would move to Madison after five or so years. Well, we've almost been here almost five years and really feel no need to move. We have great neighbors and love the proximity to work without all the madison congestion. Once again, just thought I would give a resident's opinion of living here. I come on here all the time to read opinions people have about restaurants, etc. and like hearing from people who have actually been there, or lived there (when referring to communities). I have never lived in meridianville, so I can't give my opinion on living there, but as for Triana, we've have a positive experience living here.

And that is what people need, honest opinions
