Anyone have any idea exactly what this business is or what they do at this location? The building has an A-frame design on the northern end that gives it the appearance of a church, but I've never seen any indication that it's ever been used for that purpose. The building itself is in disrepair and not very well maintained and the curtains along the front windows are always drawn.

In my twenty plus years here, I can't ever recall seeing a business sign out front, seeing any type of flag flying on the flagpole, or seeing any traffic entering or exiting the property. The only thing that suggests to me that there is any work going on at the location is the small number of cars parked in the back lot during the week.

If you go to the maps.google.com website and enter the street address, 225 Wynn Drive, it suggests that the business operating at that location is named Toroid Corporation. If you go to the website for that company (Untitled Document) it indicates that they specialize in electronic weighing systems and load cell manufacturing. In my mind that profile doesn't really match up well with the structure at that location or the general condition and footprint of the building.

Throw in the fact that someone appears to be living out of a travel camper in the far front corner of the parking lot and you have to wonder what's actually occurring there. (You can see the camper in google street view from the side entrance or simply by driving by the building on Bradford Drive.) I, frankly, don't know of any legitimate business that has people living in the company's parking lot.

I have wondered about this building as well. eMaps says that Anne K Paelian owns the property.

It's nothing now, to my knowledge. It used to be just another office building.

Somebody's doing something there currently. There are a limited number of cars there just about every week day except on Mondays.

I did look up the Toroid Corp earlier. It seems unlikely that the real Toroid Corp would allow another company with the same name to exist. But, it probably does. So, yes, there might be a cheesy, fly-by-night place there.

I went to the Alabama Government Records database and found that the original paperwork for Toroid Corporation in Huntsville was filed by Owen and Anne Paelian in March of 1965. The corporation is still active and submitting annual reports to the state of Alabama as best I can tell. It appears that Owen is 92 and Anne is 89, so I doubt they are involved in running or operating anything. Their son, Paul, is listed as the Vice President for the corporation on a couple of sites. He's in his 50's so he could be running things or he could be the guy responsible for letting the building deteriorate and allowing someone to camp out in the back lot. Nonetheless, hard to imagine that anything of any much success is operating out of that facility currently.
