[quote=cnygreek;34454359]I wonder if flights out of Huntsville would be cheaper if you could actually get on an Amtrak in Huntsville?[/QUOTE}

I would love it if Huntsville could get Amtrak service. But I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Huntsville replaced Cincinnati as the most expensive airport to fly in & out of as USA TODAY reported (and I posted) on another thread when that article appeared back in December of 2010, and those two airports have gone back and forth ever since, with another monopoly-dominated airport (DFW) right up there with their own slew of nosebleed-inducing airfares.

Historically speaking when SWA launches service to a new city, the number of flights goes up while airfares go down, and that's been the case for over three decades at some airports.

Southwest out of Nashville or Birmingham. Keep checking, and sign up for their emails to get sale announcements. Right now for labor day weekend it's running right at $400 for the lowest RT I can find. Still too much.

So out of curiosity, has anyone actually looked at how these numbers were calculated and how HSV received this honor? I just did and I still think it's misleading to say HSV is the most expensive airport in the country.

It would be nice if we could get Frontier to move out of Nashville and come to Huntsville instead...

Frontier would do well in HSV, a couple of nonstops to Denver (give United a little competition) a couple flights to Washington/Reagan, and maybe one to Orlando. The Airport Authority has talked to Frontier but nothing yet. Frontier is on a bit of shaky ground so who knows how long they will be around.
