Any one know what's going on with Star Market on Baily Cove? Shelves are starting to empty.

I think it's turning into a WalMart Neighborhood Market.

from last year
Star Market is asking a Madison County court to block the landlord of its Bailey Cove store from terminating the lease and forcing it off the premises.

Inventory is due at the same time as our taxes (and for the same reasons)...it's not at all unusual for stores to have less stock on their shelves right about now. That may or may not have anything to do with Star Market currently, though.

I was told they are closing by a reputable source. Too bad. I really like that store. Same person did also say a Walmart Neighborhood Market would be the next likely tenant.

I was also told they are closing by someone who would know.

I love Star Market. I try to shop there often. They are local and fine people. All we need is the Walmartization of America (when that happens well see what kind of quality and prices we get). If you have the option, always support local.

I live right behind the Meridianville Star Market and I avoid that store like the plague. Prices are high, employees are too busy playing slap and tickle and the produce sucks. They routinely package and shrink wrap vegetables with the "bad side" hidden. Cashiers don't know the difference between a cucumber and zucchini. It's a real shame, it used to be my go to store, but not any more.
