Anyone know what's going on at Star Market on 72? Shelves are pretty much empty. Are they going out of business?

It has to do with an issue with Star Market in Bailey Cove. They are short on cash so not much inventory. Been going on a couple of months.

This WHNT article is from July 24, 2014:

Star Market addresses rumors of closing | WHNT.com

Quote:
Star Market’s Bailey Cove location in Huntsville is in the middle of a legal battle between store managers and property owners. Now an employee says rumors are going around that the Star location is closing for good. David Wood spoke to the employee to clear up some confusion.

Pardon our progress. In addition to highly publicized legal squabblings, sights like this – construction and empty shelves are contributing to rumors that the Bailey Cove Star Market location is operating on borrowed time.

Rita Ingram has worked at the store for 8 months and says she has to correct confused customers 3 or 4 times per shift.

“They don’t see the positive sides of what’s going on with Star Market. Now, Star Market is, we’re resizing to make it easier for the customers to find the things that they need and do and we’re restocking and it’s a positive thing. We’re not closing, we’re gonna be here and we’re gonna be strong and it’s for the community.” Rita Ingram said.

Property owners say Star Market last year sent a lease renewal notice to the wrong address and the lease expired, as a matter of law.

Star filed a lawsuit last June seeking the block eviction and had their lease termed valid by the court.
Another rumor fueler, the attorneys for Star allege the Hays brothers who own the property were motivated by a desire to sell the property to Wal-Mart.

“It’s not for the big corporate man that wants to come in it’s for the community – it’s about the people, the customers that come in on a daily basis that we have learned to love and come to love.” Rita Ingram said.

"Resizing"? Well that's one way to put a spin on empty shelves. Rita should think about working for the Prez. Well played.
