What was all of the smoke today throughout Madison and West Huntsville? It was really thick around 4:30.

They are burning tons of piles of trees/debris at the new Mungo homes development at the Burgreen/Powell intersection. Last night looked like a scene out of a movie with numerous large fires out in the field...

I know! I drove by there on way to walmart & it was scary looking. One of the piles had flames so high, I was afraid it was going to get out of control.

Wouldn't it be nice to see a development that worked around the trees and land features instead of the clearcut wastelands we see in this county? Enjoy your home depot crepe myrtals that will be called landscaping.

Yes! It makes me sick! I realize that not all trees can or should be saved (some are scraggly, dead, diseased, etc) but this clear-cutting is awful. It results in another flat, treeless, nameless, faceless, character-less, non-descript subdivision. And it's all done why? Because it's so much cheaper than working around the trees!

Everyone is greedy...from the builders & developers, to the city who wants to collect permit fees & property taxes on all the new development, regardless of what it's going to do to the existing infrastructure.

I'm not anti-growth; I think sustainable growth is a wonderful thing. I worry that this boom is not going to be sustainable and Madison will have another 2008-like bubble.

Good grief, what happened tonight? Tons of black smoke & sirens around 6:00 PM and Burgreen was still shut down at 8:00. Every fire truck in Madison must've been there.

It hit the news tonight: 3 displaced following Madison house fire - WAFF-TV: News, Weather and Sports for Huntsville, AL

Quote:
MADISON, AL (WAFF) - Madison police closed a portion of Burgreen Road Wednesday evening due to a structure fire.

It happened before 6:30 p.m. at the corner of Burgreen and Cedar Acres Drive.

The fire was contained to one end of the home, however a part of the roof caved in. The rest of the home suffered smoke and water damage. A nearby recreational vehicle was also damaged in the flames.

Three residents were displaced as a result of the fire. No one was injured.

Burgreen was still closed as the investigation into the fire continued. Madison City, East Limestone and Segar Volunteer Fire Departments responded. Madison police advise that you seek alternate routes if driving in this area.
It's interesting that this happened so close to where developers have very recently been burning debris. I wonder if that had anything to do with it?

Hahahahahahaha!

Perfect, it is exactly that reason I am not getting any crepe myrtles or getting anything growing at HD.

Unrelated to the title but I have noticed a lot of tree clearing around the roads in Madison lately.
