I have no dog in this fight, but flown in pork... yeah, unless its lunchmeat or smoked or preserved or something, that's gonna lose no matter how good it originally was.

Personally, I liked after I moved to Bham and discovered vinegary, non-ketchupy bbq sauce. I'm no big fan of white sauce, but I can understand the pride of it being your own.

I had never heard of such a thing either, nor would I consider it because I would think fresh is the only way to go. But he insisted.

I'm not saying this is the place, but...

I am also from Texas, and although North Alabama wouldn't know a brisket if it slapped them in the face, a good vinegarry pork is a good thing.

I would beg to differ here... while it isn't as common as Texas, I know plenty of folks who can smoke up one mean brisket. I'm hoping to add that to my resume soon.

And chopped BBQ? To me, if I can eat it on a spoon, it's not BBQ.

I have had good, smoked or bbq'd brisket here only cooked by individuals, not in any restaurants, with one exception....Edith Ann's on S. Pkwy occasionally has a brisket filled omelet as a special on the menu and filled it is and great it is.

I do love me a good smoked beef brisket and putting ANY sauce whatsoever on it (other than for basting) is sacrilege for me.

Five cars in line and it was to the highway. I never understood why there was a line anyway.

Apparently people around here love mediocre bbq and once Wendys started offering bbq, it was enough competing mediocrity to drive them out of business.
