Looking for a new couch/loveseat set of solid quality without an inflated profit margin slapped on it. Madison/Athens/hsv area.

Suggestions? Lessons learned?

Barnett & Swann in Athens is great. Their prices beat most of the places in the Huntsville/Madison/Athens area that we checked.

Story and Lee in Leoma, TN. Not Madison/Hsv but still a pretty good furniture store. It's north of Florence off of US Hwy 43.

Good luck.

^^That.

For fun, go to the furniture section of Craigslist and search on Ashely. Then look at the sorry state of those two year old sofas.

Rab Shelton in Ardmore, AL and Hobbs Furniture in Ardmore, TN are better than anyplace in Huntsville. Both are family owned and care about their customers.

I typically shop local stores like Braggs, then call Storey and Lee, Akins Furniture (Ft Payne) and Suttons to get a better price. Akins typically has beat all the others and they do deliver to HSV.

In 2009 I bought a microsuede sectional from Pottery Barn....don't know if you consider it "inflated" in regards to profit margin but that has to be one of the best purchases I have ever made. We LIVE on that sofa and it still looks like new. Was worth every penny and was priced comparable to other sectionals I had looked at....many at places like Haverty's were more. Quality is outstanding. They typically run a sale on them around the first of the year.

Don't forget about Reflections in Meridianville. They have beat any price that Story & Lee and Suttons has ever quoted us and they deliver for free as well. IMHO, there is no reason to waste your time driving to S&L unless you just want to see some pieces in-person.

We were in Reflections this weekend. There was a couch we liked by "Jackson Furniture Company". Did some research and they reviewed poorly for how long their couches lasted.

We purchased a sofa from Sofamart. Its 7 years old and its looking pretty rough. Not sure if their stuff is any better now or not. We like more modern furniture and there isn't much of that around.
