I don't think it would be much different than turning left onto Madison blvd like it has been.

As for the design, the were limited in what they can do because of that house that the owners refused to sell and that company that is almost right on top of the highway.

As for this city being a bunch of engineers and why the roads are not up to spec, well, for one thing, ALDONT is who manages the engineering. I'm sure that they don't pay for engineers the way they do up here.

It was originally scheduled to be finished this May. It seems like its been going on forever, I hope they are still on schedule.

I hope they raise you Madison folks taxes so you can fix County line road. It was getting a bit rough for us Harvest folks to cut thru on. It's been so long since I've had to worry about that cop sitting over the hill just past James Clemons.

I would think a flyover type arrangement for southbound County Line to eastbound I-565 would have been the best answer and don't really think it would have been overkill. I would suggest that they could have placed an overpass to the west of the County Line overpass and to the east of the current exit overpass for eastbound I-565 traffic wanting to get onto Madison Blvd. They could have built a two lane exit ramp for southbound County Line traffic that curled around and went over I-565 and ultimately merged onto I-565 east just to the west of the existing overpass. This would have done two things: 1) kept southbound to eastbound traffic moving (no traffic lights to pass through) and 2) reduced congestion at the I-565/Madison Blvd interchange.

The other thing I would have looked at for westbound I-565 traffic would have been trying to create something at the existing airport ramp for motorists wanting to go northbound on County Line Road. That would probably have entailed a flyover to get the traffic over the existing Madison Blvd lanes and that might have been overkill. However, if the flyover was done like I suggested above, then what they have built now for westbound traffic would work much more seamlessly because of reduced contention for the traffic signals at the County Line Road/Madison Blvd interchange.

County Line was repaved from Gillespie/Browns Ferry interchange to Mill Road interchange over a year ago. They will be starting work on the north end in the not too distant future so you may have to wait a little longer than May to make that trek.

While we are discussing toll booths, I think they need one on Capshaw at ORB so that Limestone County residents can help pay for the widening of Capshaw (or better yet, get them to travel on State Road 72).

Yes, I'm sure the businesses would love to have less traffic by their stores. No more quick stops at Publix, McD, or splurging at King Olive Oil. No more ammo restocking trips to Last Resort. Great plan. Isolationism always works so well. So you see, even us Harvest folks do pay for that road thru sales taxes, and we wish there were less of you Madison folks using our road.

This brings up a question I have. I know CL literally separates Limestone & Madison. But, what about the road itself? Is it in Madison Co or Limestone? Is it split down the middle? Do both counties contribute toward maintenance of the road? Is it a state-maintained road? Just curious as to how that works.
