Blacks cant be rednecks. Do you know the origin of that term? Southern white famers who get sun burns on the back of their necks. It has since become a derog for conservative whites. That is how it was used in this conversation.

Science s not your forte, is it. Black people can sun burn. I am willing to bet that anyone that is exposed to the sun long enough will in fact burn.

I'm not standing out there with a gun because I have a family to support. That doesn't mean I don't respect these men from doing what they feel they can do. But I always carry and if I see someone in danger (assaulted, robbed, etc...) and I am there I will defend and protect them by any means necessary. As we all should be willing to do for our fellow human beings.

I don't care what color you are, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, etc... You're a human being in harm's way. If I have the capability to help you, I'm going to do it. A lot of the "gun toting rednecks" feel the same way. I know there are bad apples in every bunch, but those are typically the ones who sit back in the shadows and wait for an opportunity to do something really stupid, like the kid in SC. Not the people who openly offer to defend someone.
Holding guns knowing there is no real trouble is not putting their lives on the line. And besides, if a terror group really wants to carry out attacks, then no gun will protect anyone from someone willing to martyr themselves with a bomb strapped to their chest. Good luck protecting anyone from a tactic that is more usually used to harm people by the groups that are known for strapping bombs to either themselves or vehicles.

So are you comparing them to terrorists? Just because you don't see trouble doesn't mean it isn't there. No one saw Sandy Hook coming... or the SC church shooting, or the twin tower bombings, or any other terrible tragedy. Otherwise, someone would have tried to prevent it. When you make it known that an area is well protected, the likelihood of it being attacked diminishes.... and in the worst case scenario of someone attempting anyhow the casualty count can diminish as well.

You know a good way to prevent anything from happening is to prepare for it...... The military does this every day. Are you saying that we shouldn't be doing similar things? We may be better prepared and able to protect against some of the crazy people out there and prevent some of the Sandy Hook type events from ever taking place.

Where did i compare them to terrorists? I stated that no matter what gun power they bring they wont protect the place from a terrorist group willing to blow its people up.

That's true... but we're not talking about people with bombs strapped to them. We are talking about preventing mass shootings....

And why arent we? We are capable of adapt and change. After I shoot up a building, you bring your gun. After you bring your gun, I bring explosives.

So then what do you suggest? We all sit at home and hope for the best? There aren't that many options. Either protect yourself and others, or go hide and let the nut jobs run loose.

So when blacks get burned by the sun they turn red? Interesting science.

It certainly sounds like their hearts are in the right place... ...but not really.

What are they going to do there?

Do they think they can stop a citizen and ask them what their intent is?
Do they think they can block the sidewalk so that nobody "suspicious" looking can walk by?
Don't they realize that even cops don't have the right to do this?

If they are there, standing, watching, armed, and a "woman" in a burqa (with or without bomb, rifle, gun) decides s/he wants to go to the nearby sweet shop, will they stop her and violate her rights? Or will they just stand there and watch as s/he kills someone and then waits to for martyrdom as many terrorist do?

This has nothing to do with "protecting soldiers" and has everything to do with chest-thumping, wana-be-in-the-news, have an excuse to threaten someone, ego tripping.
