Maybe a dumb question, but can anyone use public school playgrounds on weekends or when school is out? I'm mainly thinking Madison City, but interested in Huntsville and county schools as well.

I know out in the county where we live people use the elementary school playground all the time. Same for another county school down the road. Not sure about all areas though.

Have you been to Dublin Park in Madison? https://www.madisonal.gov/index.aspx?NID=114

I don't think it costs anything to use the playground there and it's nicer than a school playground IMO.

It's called "Kids Kingdom" https://www.facebook.com/pages/Kids-...29385403778454

As long as the gates are not locked, it is assumed to be open. Only a few HCS playgrounds are fenced in and locked.

Yeah, I have used Madison School on Sullivan and College before, same with West Madison.

I mean we pay the property taxes that fund them.

I know for a fact you can use the track at BJHS.

You go play on those playgrounds Dave? That's cute

I've never known MSC to mind as long as people are not trashing them or doing damage....if they are open, people use them.

Lol, I should temper that by saying I was a CHILD and my mom was a teacher at the school at the time.

BUT I see people walking the track from time to time.

If I lived nearby I would walk to the track as well.

Also to amend this.

I was with a friend on the grounds of Huntsville Junior High School late last night/early this morning. A police officer drove through, looked right at us, waved, kept driving.

Of course not a children's playground, but basketball court. We were sitting on bleachers though.

My daughter and her boyfriend were sitting on the field behind Bob Jones one evening about 2 years ago just talking. Madison P.D. drives around the fence, onto the track and then onto the turf to "talk to them". Basically grills them about who they were and what they were doing there. Told them they were trespassing. Funny, their no "no trespassing" signs. But then again that's Madison P.D. too.

Hard to believe that's almost been 20 years since we built Kids Kingdom. Time really flies.
