So this is like the opposite of the Madison Target? Instead of going from a non-grocery store and expanding the grocery section, Kroger Marketplace is a full grocery store with an expanded non-grocery section?

That's what it sounds like, isn't it?

Is the Kroger on 72 @ Jeff Rd a Kroger Marketplace? They have a lot of non-grocery items, but most of it is food-related (kitchen countertop appliances, dishes, table linens, etc.)

Yes, according to this article back in 2010.

Is the new Kroger at Wall-Triana & Browns Ferry Rd a Marketplace also?

An article about one recently opened near Knoxville, also shown as 123,000 SF. "Craft Beer Growler Bar"...I'll shop there.

I believe the Wall Triana one is more like the Jeff Rd one, more of a "Super Kroger". The Sembler site does not show it as a Marketplace, and shows it as 102,000 SF.

The Marketplace sounds like a copycat version of Wegmans...granted, they don't sell furniture, but do sell $5000 bottles of Champagne The war of the grocery stores has come to AL - it was interesting in VA when the "phenomenon" came there, Wegmans, Harris Teeters...all "upscale", nice and clean with great selections - even Foodlion updated their stores

Anybody know if Kroger is moving forward with the store at the corner of HWY 72 and County Line Road?
They are currently building out the gas station just to the east of the Tire Discounters and the Mapco.

I honestly would like to know as well. We now have plenty of Publix locations at a stones throw in this area. I was looking forward to Kroger being built there.
