That stretch from Abbeville to Columbus is scary. Tons of speeding log trucks and many blind corners.

Obviously, neither of you have been on the stretches Gadsden to Anniston, Anniston to Opelika, and Lenox Phenix City to Dothan. Those aforementioned stretches have been sites of multiple deadly head-on collisions. These stretches of road are not very well-lit at night or lacks traffic signals at key intersections

Have not driven north of Phenix City. But I can tell you that US431 south of Phenix City is all wide open four lane except for a short distance driving through downtown Eufaula. No problems what so ever.

I'm thinking that roads all over Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan are far more dangerous than highway 431. Just my opinion.

jero23 - I've driven those roads ya nut.

Had you instead focused on the data, you'd discover that they've been recycling the same list since it was published in Readers Digest in 2000. The list comes out every few years for clickbait.

For example, here's one from last year:

Alabama's 'Highway to Hell' named one of the world's most dangerous roads - Yellowhammer News

Another from 2009:

"At least, that's what Reader's Digest and the BBC declared 10 years ago."

The Deadliest Roads Are Rural : NPR

I'm with steveklein, there are more dangerous roads - I've driven some in Mexico that white-knuckle scared me.

Seems unlikely since some of the roads on the list aren't even 10 years old

My same thoughts. That Readers Digest article has a long shelf life.
