Hi...I'm down to my last 5 classes needed to finish my AA degree. I'm thinking about taking all 5 for the Spring. I've taken over 10 years to get to this point. I'd love to take the summer off before starting the Bachelor's program. Anyway, the classes I need are:
Statistics
Earth Science
Environmental Science
Human Resource Mgmt
Marketing

My question is....Is statistics really that difficult? Some friends said it was a nightmare and I should actually take it alone. I do work full time. Has anyone else worked full time at a job that is flexible but still mentally challenging and taken this many classes?

Thanks.

Why rush it at the very end and have your GPA suffer? Spread the classes over two semesters and you'll have plenty of time for work and study so you can keep that GPA up.

I took Probability and Statistics at UAH, and I spent a fair amount of time studying and doing homework problems. I'm not sure I would have made an A if I had been working full time and had four additional courses.

Congratulations on your achievement and perseverance.

Thank you and you have a point. I have received all A's for the last three semesters. I took either 2 or 3 classes each semester. I just thought sucking it up and getting the classes over now would give me time to recoup over the Summer. I'd start off slow for my Bachelor's in the Fall. I hit the ground running when I started back a year and a half ago, but I feel the steam slowly draining. I feel like like I've been at the community college for two long. I will definitely keep your advice in mind.

It depends. Are you looking at statistics from the business department or from the math department? Are you mathematically inclined or challenged?

I'd recommend two semesters. I have a masters in statistics and the introductory classes to probability and statistics can be challenging since you're laying the groundwork for more advanced topics.

Yes, statistics is difficult. I would split it up and take statistics and one other class, then take the last three together.....or vice-versa.

I still have my textbook from the early 80's. Wanna buy it?

I'd split it up too, especially since you work full time. I took statistics in college and really like it. I'd probably take it with the sciences only because the other two classes will probably require more papers, and those are time consuming.

I found statistics to be a challenging class. I've taken intro, probability and statistics, and biostatistics.

Thank you all so much for your advice. I think I will lighten my load for the Spring. I'm currently taking a 3 week winter course and it is kicking my behind.
