'The Oasis,' a dazzling new entertainment center, touted for Huntsville | AL.com

I agree. If this is built near either Redstone Gateway, Bridge Street Mall, in the Research Park, or even in downtown Huntsville, I can get excited about its possibility. It can be sustained & complemented by local businesses. But out in the middle of nowhere like exit 3 on I-565, this will likely be another fail project like many before it for the I-65/ I-565 corridor.

Looks like WHNT is less gullible than al.com:

Development still in planning stages touts luxury hotel and conference center in Huntsville | WHNT.com

Of course locating this fantastic project at exit 3 on I-565 will make the drive shorter for our Birmingham brethern who will be crowding I-65 to visit the soon-to-be-world-famous Oasis. ALDOT needs to get busy widening I-65 and I-565.

Don't expect it would be all that visible from I-65.

It's the Greenbrier exit. Next exit going East is County Line Road, then the airport.

Bridge Street and Redstone Gateway were in the middle of nowhere before they were what they are today. So was the Target shopping center on Hwy 72. Ditto every development from Rideout Road to Wall Triana along Hwy 72.

This is precisely how development happens.

The Oasis will be located off Exit 3 on I-565 at the southwest corner of the expressway and Swancott Road, according to the announcement.

Note if you get off I565 at the Greenbrier exit going west, at the stop sign:
* Turn right and go north you are on the Greeenbrier Rd.
* Turn left and go south you are on Swancott Road
