Some of the sushi at Buffet 88 is...edible.

Best place in the area I have tried (and I have not by any means tried them all) is Sakura in Madison.

Earth Fare has the best grocery-store sushi. They actually come close to wouldn't-be-embarassed-to-serve-it-in-a-restaurant status.

For those Californians/Angelenos following along....head over the mountains and give Brother Sushi in Canoga Park (near the corner of Canoga and Ventura Blvd) a try. Maguro so fresh I nearly wept with joy.

Sakura is very good. Good ambience too. The owner of Sakura has started a sushi shop in the Huntsville Hospital cafeteria.

We also like Eddo, it has more traditional set up & atmosphere and the sushi is very good as well.

My challenge is to keep my bill below $50/person when I eat sashimi.

Edo is the best - hands down. No one else comes close. I ordered some traditional Nigiri preparations in the other "Sushi bars" and the waitresses looked at me like I was from the moon and stated "I never heard of using quail eggs - we don't serve it that way." Edo has also ALWAYS had the freshest Uni in town.

Now, if we can only get one of the Sushi Bars to carry Geoduck - that is great stuff.
