FWIW
In my local area of FTW TX there was probably 7 yrs ago a minor league team with investors--built newer ball park in area NW of downtown trying to revitalize it
For while it seemed to be doing ok--people were going to the games (we did) and looked like it stood chance of being viable entity but that positive vibe didn't last
Forget all the reasons--financing from main investor was one problems--but think the town has too much competition from the pro teams in area
And the baseball team lost its competitive edge -- if it was not winning then fan base was not really there...

Same thing will most likely happen if they move to Madison. If nothing else, if will be interesting to watch it all unfold and the Madison residents get left holding the bag on a stadium.

I read all these excuses for why the Huntsville Stars were not profitable and the number one reason people throw out there is "because the stadium was in poor shape." I find that to be a pretty poor excuse because I have been to some pretty ****ty stadiums over the years that were packed. If the community likes the sport and team, they will show up. Recently I was in Nashville and went to a Titans game and Nissan stadium and during the all the tv breaks and bs that they do in between plays, I was looking around noticing that stadium is pretty nasty and junky. It is seriously nothing to brag about but yet it was busy with a lot of fans for both teams. So I don't buy the whole "The Huntsville Stars didn't survive because of the stadium" argument.

Those are some good observations.

I think Madison will be left holding the bag, win or lose.

Lose will play out as you say, but if the team succeeds Huntsville will be pulling the strings to move it to downtown HSV.

The latest AL.com article said Louis Breland is one of the investors that now owns the BayBears. So don't think that would happen. Town Madison will be designed around the stadium, it's going to be nice.

Agree. This stadium would be the anchor to an ENTIRE development; it's not going to be garbage

I agree. The same people who designed the Braves new Stadium & development surrounding it will make ours. People will be so intrigued by what surrounds the stadium that attendance will be record breaking. Nothing and I mean nothing New was around the Stars stadium. You couldn’t walk around and shop or go to a new restaurant. Madison BayBears will be great!

Let's hope they change the name of the team, and I'm sure they will. And stay away from the cutesy names like Biscuits, etc.

I am tired of everything being space-related, too (Rocket City, Stars, blah blah blah). However, the Havoc is a cool name.
